DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS CHILDREN'S MUSEUM SLIDESHOW
This is a video project I created during COM 124 (Digital Communications) at Furman University. This video highlights the Children's Museum of the Upstate and what it is doing to promote play among children and their families. In turn, it exists as a major improvement to the community for children's happiness and education. Incorporated is an interview, b-roll, voiceover and editing of clips. Through this project, I was able to learn basic iMovie skills and the importance of being able to portray a clear message via video clips and editing.
This is a slideshow of twenty pictures with voiceover telling the "story" of the Children's Museum through images and narration. During this project, I grasped the importance of which images to capture and what messages the picture could possibly convey. Subjectivity in terms of interpretation of pictures is a topic we thoroughly discussed and a phenomenon we needed to be aware of while selecting images. Included also is the use of the rule of thirds.
PROJECTS
Throughout Digital Communications, we kept a weekly blog of our readings. These included observations, opinions, and connections we have made to other media and real life examples in the world. My blog is titled "towards a luminous future: highlighting children through Digital Communication." Though children are not mentioned in every post, this is my overall theme.

At South Mountain YMCA, there was a competition among all of the cabins to write letters to the camp director explaining why their cabin counselors were the best. Our cabin won this challenge, and we received an ice cream party! What an honor it was for myself and my co-counselors to be recognized in this way. Such lovely girls!
A couple of boys in my tribe at Bynden Wood Day Camp over the summer. The children in this group were ages four and five.
This summer during the London Olympics, our camp facilitated our very own "Olympics Week." The camp was divided into the blue, green, red, and yellow teams. I was co-captain of the blue team- what an honor! We ended up being the winners. This picture was taken following one of the competitions, "paint wars," a game to see which team could get their color paint on the most flags- carried by one representative from each team.
